Interac and MCU have been notified of a recent increase in E-Transfer related phishing attempts. Criminals have been distributing E-Transfer notifications to obtain the personal and financial information of those who fall victim to this phishing scam.
MCU advises the following:
“If you received a notification for an Interac E-Transfer that you were not expecting, contact the sender through a different communication channel to verify. If the notification comes from someone you don’t know, or you suspect if might be fraudulent, do not respond or click any links. Forward the email to firstname.lastname@example.org“
