Ed Bilcowski
Ed Bilcowski has been a resident of Minnedosa for 41 years and has been on the board since 1987 including 7 years as president. Ed is semi-retired from the construction business and really enjoys being a grandpa.
Trevor McQuaid
Trevor lives on a farm in the Basswood area with his wife, Natalie Lemoing and two children, Briel and Remy. Originally from Alberta, Trevor moved to his wife’s hometown area in 2005 and currently farms with his father-in-law, Richard Lemoing. Trevor attended the University of Lethbridge obtaining his bachelor of management degree. After university, Trevor worked in Calgary’s oil and gas industry within various roles including acquisitions and divestitures, operations and budgeting reporting and industry analysis. Before leaving Calgary, Trevor spent 5 years conducting risk management for a utility company delivering electricity and natural gas to retail and industrial customers. Trevor was awarded the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation in 2000. Trevor currently sits as a director on the Minnedosa Child Care Co-operative acting as Treasurer. Trevor stays active with the local rugby team, commercial hockey and volunteering in his children’s school, Tanners Crossing.
Beth McNabb
Beth was born in Minnedosa and raised on a local farm. Following a 25 year career with The Portage Mutual Insurance Company ranging from marketing in Alberta to Branch Manager in St. Catharines, Ontario, Beth returned to Minnedosa in 2001 with her husband Ray Newstead when they purchased the Fashion House. Beth is involved with the Minnedosa Chamber of Commerce, serving on the executive over the past 5 years, as well as the chamber representative on the Homecoming 2008 committee, and a member of the Retail and B.I. chamber sub-committees. She is an active member of the Minnedosa United Church, currently singing in the choir and a member of the rebuilding committee. Beth & Ray enjoy working & living in Minnedosa, especially dinners with family & friends, gardening and golf. Return trips to Ontario to visit Ray's daughter Annette and Granddaughter Zoey are always a delight for Grandpa & Nana "Bess"
Barb Cook
Barb was born and raised on a farm outside of Erickson. She attended Assiniboine Community College and received a business accountancy diploma. She is married to Ken, and they live on the farm near Clanwilliam. They have 2 children, Nicole and Brendan and 2 grandchildren, Bryden and Dallas. Barb has owned and operated the Minnedosa Dollar Store since November, 1993 and took over the Sears catalogue agency in 1999. She has now started to do some catering in her spare time. Barb is treasurer for the ladies curling club, a board member of the Clanwilliam hall, a committee member of the 2008 Homecoming Committee and of the Yellowhead Wind Association. She has been a board member of the Minnedosa Credit Union for the past 8 years. She enjoys cooking, reading, curling and spending time with family and friends.
Carl Landrie
Carl Landrie has resided in the Minnedosa area for over forty years and has been a Minnedosa Credit Union member for most of that time. He and his wife Ann have three sons: one residing in Manitoba; one in Saskatchewan and one in Alberta. They also have three grandchildren with another one on the way. Carl spent 34 years in the field of education having graduated from the U of M and Brandon U. Before his retirement Carl was involved with the Minnedosa Kinsmen Club, the Manitoba Driver Education Program as well as with the Minnedosa Bombers Hockey Club. He is a current member of the Retired Teachers Association of Manitoba and, together with Ann, remains a casual Meals on Wheels driver and old car enthusiast.
Barry McNabb Barry McNabb was born and raised in the Minnedosa area. Having completed schooling in Minnedosa he went on to receive his diploma in agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1980. He presently farms with a brother on a mixed grain farm north of Minnedosa. Barry has been involved as a director for Keystone Agricultural Producers, board of directors for the local Manitoba Pool Elevators(Basswood), chairman for the MAG committee of Agricore United and presently the farm manager for the Minnedosa Grain Growing Project which helps raise money for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. With a love for music, he has been involved as a committee member for the Rolling River Festival of the Arts, member of the quartet Cameron Connection, Minnedosa United Church Choir, Strathclair Theatre Chorus and Strathclair Drama Club. Other interests include curling and downhill skiing. Rick Nylen Rick Nylen was born and raised in Minnedosa. He moved to Alberta shortly after High School with his wife and young son. Rick worked as a construction supervisor for nine years. After many relocations, Rick and his wife decided it was time to settle down. In 1989, the Nylen family, now consisting of five, moved back to Minnedosa. Rick started his own construction company and a cow/calf operation. Over the years, Rick has volunteered as a coach for hockey, baseball, volleyball and was a cub scout leader and a member of the 4H council. He was a municipal councilor for eight years and has served on many different committees. Albert Parsons Albert Parsons was raised on a farm near McAuley, Manitoba. After obtaining his B.A. and B.Ed degree at the U of M, he spent 35 years in the education field as a teacher and in-school administrator. He also has a diploma in Horticulture from Guelph University. After years of involvement in community projects in Birtle and Carberry, Albert and his wife Edith moved to Minnedosa 10 years ago. He is currently President of the Minnedosa Horticultural Society and has worked with Citizens on Patrol, Communities in Bloom, Grain Growing Project and the Fun Fest Committee since moving to town. Albert currently operates a home-based business called “Gardens by Design”, providing landscaping consultations and garden design work, conducting workshops and speaking to gardening groups in the Westman region. His weekly column appears in the Brandon Sun. Albert has been a member of Minnedosa Credit Union ever since moving to town!
Dave Pollon Dave
Pollon was
born in Minnedosa and raised in Clanwilliam. He has been employed by CP Rail
in Minnedosa for 31 years and is presently working as a Locomotive
Engineer. He and his wife Tanny have 2 daughters and 1 son.
He has been involved in the community throughout his adult life as
a Past President of the Minnedosa Kinsmen Club and Minnedosa Minor Hockey
Association. He served 2 terms on Minnedosa Town Council from 1992-98. Dave
has been representing his fellow employees as a Legislative Representative
for the Teamsters Union from 1992-2009. He is currently chairperson of
Minnedosa Heritage Incorporated. Dave and Tanny enjoy golfing, camping,
hockey, skiing and travel.
